Search Metro Houston by Map
As the 4th largest US city and the largest Texas city, understanding Houston real estate can be overwhelming even for locals. Many locals may know that West University is west of Rice University and not in West Houston? We make it easy. We break Houston into 3 major geographies: Inner Loop, Outer Loop and Metro Houston.
4 Major Highways
We use the following 4 major highways as reference points:
- 1-10 traverses Houston East to West
- I-45 runs North to South
- I-610 is the interior/ original Houston ring road. It is referred to as the "Inner Loop." Everything inside the Inner Loop is referred to as "Inner Loop.
- The Sam Houston Tollway is the second ring road. It is referred to as the "Outer Loop." Everything outside of the Inner Loop to the Sam Houston Tollway is referred to as the Outer Loop
Compass Directions
We then use the 8 primary compass directions: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W & NW
